Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Anime

How Cow

This was awesome...

Synopses:

After experiencing a bizarre dream, Madoka Kaname, a kind 14-year-old girl, encounters a magical creature named Kyube. Madoka and her friend Sayaka Miki are offered the opportunity of gaining magical powers if they agree to make a contract with the strange little being. He will also grant them one wish, but in exchange they shall risk their lives by accepting the responsibility of fighting witches. Invisible to human eyes, witches are catalysts of despair in the areas they inhabit. An ally of Kyube, a magical girl named Mami Tomoe, befriends and encourages the two girls to accept the contract. For an unknown reason, another magical girl named Homura Akemi is determined to prevent Madoka from accepting the deal.

All you really need to know is that Kyube is freaky...I mean seriously creepy

The girls are awesome, I love the character development and how the story develops...its so cool, it was so much more than I expected it to be

I just love the style, the story is very dark I even shed a tear.

I also wanted to share this YouTube channel, this is the reason I watched this show...his reviews are AWESOME, he must put so much effort into them

Safe Word - Teresa Mummert

I think this will be a long rant with spoilers and swearing.....

Safe Word on Amazon UK

I have no idea what I just read

Another warning of spoilers and swearing proceed at your own risk

Cole/Colt meets Rose/Lilly they have a past, in love when there were kids her dad abused her..it implies she rich kid but the description of where she lives doesn't seem to be that way so I don't even know.
Anyway they meet in a bar he doesn't remember her straight away, he wants to remember her so they meet up again. Turns out now he's a bad boy.... as in kidnaps women for ransom.
So in the end he realizes who she is, kidnaps her and makes out he has no choice...well yes you fucking did sir you had a fucking choice. I don't even get this part at all.
He acts like he cares so he Kidnaps an abused girl who's going by a different name so she's been through some shit.
She's scared and he's nasty to her... but he doesn't want them both dead? so he has to be nasty (nice), so he's mean to her and tells her she better go along with what he says, he tries to keep his distance but they end up getting it on (again scared ABUSED girl here locked up in a bedroom and this is all OK)
I know she knows him, but in this seriously scary fucking situation there is no way in hell she would be doing this...he isn't even nice to her.
Turns out he is an ex cop and while he isn't really the bad guy but he is...in fact I'm not even sure. I think he is like an undercover cop that doesn't work for the police but the government although they put him in prison (for something he doesn't do) but he gets sent off to do another job...with a new identity. I just don't know to be honest with you.
Its just one big clusterfuck of a flip in the story I don't even understand, there was even a point a feel like it was implied that Lilly/Rose wasn't in danger and this was the plan all along even though her going to find him was totally random.
The amber thing holy hell he saved her once so they were friends, which made him become a cop, till he wasn't a cop, decided that he loves Amber but not in the same way as Lilly/Rose.
Is a huge chunk of this book missing. I don't understand why he had to kidnap her I really don't, and because of this the whole book felt fake I didn't understand what was going on half the time, I was re-reading bits, the characters were flat and didn't do anything that made sense.
I feel like I've just read a load of random stuff like the story was only half thought about, then just cut and pasted together.
Maybe I'm being silly or just totally missed something...I'm glad its super short or I may of smashed my kindle up.

Don't get me wrong I've read a lot of Teresa Mummert's stuff and for the most part I like her books but this one...What the fucking hell was this.

Maybe I will like this book once its explained to me, but should a book really be so badly written or edited that I don't understand and I have to search for answer to what the hell it was about, now I do think every book is a work of love and it takes a lot of time and energy and I couldn't do it myself but this book for me personally wasn't good at all.

0.5/5

I think for a kidnapping book the people shouldn't know each other, and not be childhood sweethearts...why would you kidnap them.
They should fall for each other over time, not be worried one minute unsure about your safety to shagging the next.

WTF!

Anime - School Days

This is why I haven't been reading too much because I've been addicted to this anime, now people seem to love it or hate it. I thought it was OK then the ending happened which for me took it to awesome level and I just can't stop thinking about it.
I googled the relationship chart....but its so complicated and such a pain in the butt that it proving impossible so I might have to try and give this a go but first synopses:

When Makoto saw Kotonoha on the train one day, he fell in love at first sight. Luckily, his classmate Sekai’s nosy personality ensures him an introduction to his crush, and soon the two begin to date. However, Kotonoha isn’t the only one with eyes for Makoto - a fact that any horny teenager would be delighted with. With endless temptations, lies and heartbreak at every turn, Makoto and Kotonoha’s relationship will soon be put to the ultimate test...

I guess this may be spoilers but the story isn't anything really, in fact its kind of stupid how these girls act and react to everything, puts them in beyond dumb category but like I said that ending....

Ok heres the relationship/storyline

Makoto Falls for

Kotonoha she likes him too.

Sekai sets Makoto and Kotonoha up by befriending Kotonoha. Turns out she is hiding the fact that she likes Makoto.

Setsuna is Sekai's best friend, she finds out Sekai likes Makoto so tried to keep Makoto and Kotonoha apart.....strange thing is Makoto was nice to her once and she also is hiding the fact she likes Makoto.

Otome knows Makoto from middle school, she likes him just because she does. Some of Otome's friends thrown in there for a threesome.

Hikari I think was the same thing, to be honest she doesn't seem to like him too much but if all these girls want some so why wouldn't she. She is also friends with Sekai.

If I went into detail about how these relationships come about I would be here all night so this is the simple version.

I want to talk about the ending I really do but to me that was the best bit, the story starts OK I think.. then it all gets to a point where its just sex for weird reasons. Girls aren't like this and I really hated the main character Makoto, at first I really liked him then he went from nice to ass really quickly. That's why the ending was so satisfying. Sekai turned out to be a cow herself so her ending was fine serves her right, felt sort of sorry for Kotonoha but I was also thinking crazy b*tch

I know loads of people hate School Days but I thought it was dumb but amazing all at the same time.

The Half Life Of Hannah - Nick Alexander

The Half Life Of Hannah - Amazon UK 59p

If your first love came back to offer you everything you ever dreamed of, what would you do?

Hannah is thirty-eight and the happily married mother of eleven-year-old Luke, the diamond in her world. Her marriage is reassuringly stable, and after fifteen years she has managed to push the wild dreams of youth from her mind and concentrate on the everyday satisfactions of here and now. The first half of her life hasn’t been as exciting as she had hoped, but then, she reckons, whose has?

When she succeeds in convincing husband Cliff to rent a villa in the south of France for a summer vacation with her sister Jill, and gay friend Tristan, she’s expecting little more than a pleasant few weeks with her family.
But they each have their own baggage – their own secrets – ready to explode on this not-so-relaxing holiday in France.

When a phone call at the villa announces the imminent arrival of a ghost from her past the ambiance is transformed into a raging sea of jealousy as Hannah is forced to question everything she thought she knew and believed.

But is she brave enough to take the life-changing decisions her future happiness requires?

My Thoughts

This book was a slow starter for me, think I was reading around a chapter a day. But once I hit around half way through I really wanted to know all the secrets.
You get to feel the dynamics of the family's and friendships which is why I think it was a slow starter, but it serves the book well in the end because you get to know the characters and what roles they play.
I liked all the characters, they all felt real and acted the way I would of expected. I liked all the different relationships and how everyone interacted.
I liked the story once it all started to unravel, overall was simple there wasn't too much to it really, it was an enjoyable easy read. The ending I did like I think it suited the story well.

How many times have I said like in this review...think that sums it up really, I Liked this book, it was fine, it isn't going to change my life in anyway and hasn't really left me with anything to think about...but I liked it.

I would give it 2.5/5

Bout of Books - Final Day

Well this is the end and I did better than expected. I'm about 3 chapters in to The Half Life Of Hannah by Nick Alexander which I'm enjoying so far. There is no chance I will finish it today but I didn't think I would be starting on the book anytime soon.

I was also thinking I could start a monthly theme. I wanted to start this with free books on the kindle but that's as far as I've got with the thought process.

I loved doing the read-a-thon and hope to do more in the future.

Bout of Books Day 5 - Dead Broken - Gerard Gray

So I've finished my 3rd book...I'm so proud of myself :)

Dead Broken Psychological Thriller- Amazon UK

In this book we are following Pete he is Catholic married to Karen and they have two children Depp and Michael. They seem a very typical family, Pete has problems in his past and his mind doesn't seem very stable. The News is following the story of Father John Thomas who has been taken in for questioning in relation to 3 murdered children. Strange things start happening when Pete buys a book from E-bay, which seems to have been sent from the same church of  Father John Thomas.

I'm not 100% sure how I feel about this book, his relationship with his wife felt very real but it wasn't the main focus of the book. Pete himself I'm not even sure, his mind is very twisted I had no idea what was going on sometimes, so it really throws you around. You can feel his torment which is great I think it really suited the book.
The problem I had was to feel the torment to understand what was going through his mind the book went to his past a lot, and it seemed to drag on. In parts it felt like he was trying to build tension which is fine, but I was getting bored and frustrated as the story wasn't being moved along. Which is why I'm tormented, as it added to the book and to the eerie feeling but it was also annoying.

The first half I found confusing, the second half I found I was skimming part towards the end of the book. The ending I'm unsure of, I find it hard to believe how the person was able to give there account on what happened, due to the state they were in.

I think an open ending would of suited better, would of kept me with the weird confused feeling I had through-out the book.

I would say its worth a read, 2 1/2 stars.

The book has some brutal parts, just thought I would warn anyone wanting to read this.

Bout of Books Day 3, The Boat Builder's Bed - Kris Pearson

The Boat Builders Bed - Amazon UK - FREE!!

With the title of this book I was wondering if I was hormonal when I bought it...turns out its FREE!! I will give anything a go, especially if its free

So we have Sophie who is another interior designer, starting her own business she's trying to make a life for her and her daughter. Rafe meets her when her shop sign hits his car, he ends up hiring her to do some designs on his house.

I sort of liked the story, it was sweet and there are actual problems rather than just jealousy (I wouldn't say it was good...but also no bad), so in that way there is more to it.
Sometimes it was confusing I think some things were mixed up and I had to re-read some parts over as I didn't really know what they were talking about.
I didn't really feel the love between the characters, I wasn't into either of them...I wasn't wishing them harm or anything, but just felt a bit blah.
Give it props for trying I guess. It was a quick read, I will wake up tomorrow and forget I ever read it nothing worth your time really, very predictable.

Bout Of Books - Finished book 1

This Man - Amazon UK

I do have notes on this longgg book but I don't think I will need them.

Ava is an interior designer Jesse hires her....Urm....They meet can't breath they both die and that's it.

I wish....they meet have that instant love going on. He stalks her, she tries to stay away but the man clearly has a mental disorder. He pounding on door scaring her, smashing things, punching things. Even though she doesn't know this lunatic she keeps saying he's scary but I know he wouldn't hurt me physically. I have no idea how she would know that the way he acts I would of called the police (I don't even think that would stop him) this could be a horror/thriller. A few times I did think you go girl run from that insane dude but she ends up back with him.

As for the characters Ava is fine until she just gives up having a normal life with her awesome roommate and ends up with this control freak (Jesse), who is old enough to know better he sometimes acts like a little kid (well a lot of the time)

They meet
He chases
She says no
He gets all crazy
She decides she can't resist him
They have sex
Fall out
Crazy Stuff
Have sex
Fall out
Crazy stuff
She cries, He cries
Sex

Trying to think of the plot ( I have just finished this book) there is a lot of sex which I thought was awesome at first then it happens so often it became boring and I was skimming over it. If you have a few really steamy sex scenes is better than lots of okish ones.

Oh all men love Ava all girls love Jesse, you know how is it. Lots of jealousy.

Urm....I've read worse. Things get repeated too much. He asks her to "make friends" eurgh!!! childish.

I would love a story about Kate she seems so awesome a lot more fun and seems to have her head screwed on right.

Borrow this book, don't buy it.

I would give it 1 out of 5

There has to be a sexy book out there with a good story.....

I might of given half a star more if it wasn't so padded with sex (I know, can't believe I'm saying that)

First Last Kiss - Ali Harris

Think that about sums it up....

The First Last Kiss - Amazon UK

Good Reads

This Book follows Molly, she is in the middle of moving house and finding things along the way that remind her of the past, and this is how the story of Molly and Ryan is told.
Molly never wanted love and wanted to concentrate on her career, she wants to see the world and doesn't want to be tied down to anyone, things are going to plan but she keeps bumping into Ryan. Ryan is fun, bubbly and loved by everyone.

Anyway....I like how the book was broken up, kept going to the past/present and I followed it without a problem. Molly's voice seemed different I could really feel her mature from teen to adult which I thought was fantastic and must of been hard to do. The book is a slow burner and while I could put the book down I spent any spare minute I could reading it. It always left me wanting more.

As for the characters I loved them all, I really did and because you get to know them so well they are like friends. I could relate to them all and I have friends/family who they reminded me of, they just felt so real.

The ending was great although I found it difficult to find it uplifting as I was still devastated...DEVASTATED.

I loved this book, I would highly suggest you don't read this in public there will be real ugly tears. The only tiny problem I had was when her teenage self would pop up in her head telling her off, this happened a bit too much for my liking.

Its gets the full 5 stars and I was entertained, in love, and so emotionally attached.

The Chosen Ones

So in my last post I said I would have to think about what books I would read for Bout of Books, while I was walking the dog I had the most amazing idea (not really that amazing) there are 41 unread books on my kindle, so I'm going to use a random number generator to choose my 3 books. I know I'm totally amazing :p

So here we go:

24, 1, 6

1: This Man - Jodi Ellen Malpas
6: Dead Broken - Gerard Gray
24: The Boat Builders Bed - Kris Pearson

So looks like i have 2 Sexy books and one Psychological Thriller, This man looks likes its going to be one long read. Going to random one last number just in case i do finish these books (really not going to happen)

28: The Half Life Of Hannah - Nick Alexander

At the moment I'm reading The First Last Kiss by Ali Harris, I've only read the first chapter hopefully I will read it before Monday.

Even though these books are not ones I was planning on reading anytime soon, I'm excited...

Bout of Books

So I'm joining bout of books, which is a read-a-thon and is running for a week starting May 13th. The main goal is to read more than you normally would.

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 13th and runs through Sunday, May 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 7.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

I think I average about 1 book a week so my plan is to read 3 books...I might be pushing it a bit but I think I can manage if i read at every opportunity.

Now what do I read.....Going to have a think about this as the books I have to read are huge, so I'm thinking about heading into my kindles unread folder.

So will update tomorrow with my list of books which is going to be the smallest list ever, but hey ho.

Love Gone Mad - Mark Rubinstein

Amazon UK
GoodReads

This book follows the story of Adrian Douglas and Magan Haggarty. Adrian is a surgeon he is very good at what he does and is recently divorced, Megan works in the same hospital in the ICU. They meet at lunch one afternoon in the hospital cafeteria, they hit it off straight away. Megan has something going on in her past that might be catching up to her putting them both in danger.

I do like the idea of the story, but I find it over describes and goes in to too much detail about things I think aren't necessary, in some places I find it works but in others I found it boring and interrupted the flow of the book.

Here is a part when he meets Megan and sits with her for lunch

"Settling into the chair, Adrian realizes he's been on his feet since six thirty. Maybe he's a candidate for orthotic inserts. No wonder most surgeons retire by age sixty. So...at forty, he's got twenty more years of cracking chests and mending hearts. Plenty can happen in twenty years, he thinks. Twenty years...I can't think that far ahead...and I don't want to think of the past. Steam rises from his soup in a vaporous cloud. It's too hot to slurp. The bowl, the soup's aroma, and the plastic tray remind him of the dorm food at Cornell; they bring back the verdant rolling hills of the Finger Lakes, rowing on Cayuga Lake and playing centre fields on the varsity baseball team. It's amazing-Ithaca, New York-merely a whiff away."

To me a lot of this is nothing to do with anything, I don't really want to know what's going on in his head constantly. Its really draining, its not to say I didn't like the story I did.
I liked Conrad I thought he was an ace character I think everything about him was done really well, every time he was in the story I could feel the tension. While I did like Adrian and Megan I found them a bit boring...I liked the relationship I thought they were sweet and I did care about them and wanted things to go well for them, but just something felt a bit bla about them. They do have the instant love thing going on which normally I hate but I felt this was done fairly well.
The twist I did figure out before it was revealed I think it was a good idea but unbelievable at the same time.
The story is general is fine I just feel it could be tweaked and this would make it loads better, it has a really slow pace, and while I was interested in the story I didn't really want to pick up the book again.
I can see why people like the book but the over describing thing is really a deal breaker for me, its slowed everything down far too much I think I would of enjoyed the story a lot more if this was toned down.

Slump

Well I started reading a book maybe a week ago and I'm just finding it so difficult to read, I'm around 80% of the way through so I might as well finish it (hopefully review up Sunday at the latest)

But what do you do? will you stick with a book till the end or give up if it just isn't floating your boat.

And also can you read more than one book? I want to start reading another book but find it so difficult to bring myself to do it while I'm in the middle of a book.

I just hope my next book is amazing, don't want to end up in a reading slump.
